E22 Sara Wepener welcomed back to RGJS as Founders’ Day Speaker

On the 30th of January 2025, Rustenburg Girls’ Junior School (RGJS) had the pleasure of hosting guest speaker Sara Wepener, an accomplished alumna whose journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Sara completed her junior school education at RGJS in 2017 before moving on to Rustenburg Girls’ High School (RGHS), where she matriculated in 2022.

Currently in her third year of study, Sara is pursuing a Bachelor of Music at the South African College of Music at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Her dedication to music and leadership is evident, as she serves as the 2025 Chairperson of the Music Student Council. Additionally, she contributes to flute education and performance through her work at The Flute Practice, an organisation committed to fostering musical talent.

Sara’s impressive list of achievements highlights her passion and commitment to excellence. She was the recipient of the HM Lentin Award in 2017 and has continued to make strides in her musical journey. She plays the flute in the prestigious UCT Symphonic Wind Ensemble and has earned a spot on the Dean’s Merit List for two consecutive years. Furthermore, her hard work and dedication have been recognised by the Rustenburg Alumnae Committee, which has awarded her financial assistance towards her tertiary education.

Her return to RGJS as a guest speaker was a moment of great pride for the school community, as she shared insights into her journey, the importance of perseverance, and the value of following one’s passion. Her story serves as an inspiration to current students, showcasing the impact of dedication, resilience, and a love for learning.
